Tour Overview
Deep in the remote wilderness of Kaokoland, where rugged mountains rise from endless desert and the roads become little more than tracks across the wilderness, strange figures appear among the rocks.
The Lone Men of Kaokoland takes you deep into one of Namibia’s most isolated and mysterious regions in search of these remarkable stone sculptures. Carved from the natural rock of the area, the nearly life-sized figures blend so perfectly into their surroundings that they can seem almost alive — standing, sitting and moving across the landscape like silent guardians of the desert.
Our expedition follows the remote routes through the wilderness surrounding Puros, Otjinungua and the areas near Van Zyl’s Pass (which we do not drive), exploring a landscape of dramatic mountains, dry riverbeds, rocky valleys and endless desert.
Along the way, experience the raw beauty and isolation of Kaokoland, where every track leads to something unexpected and every day brings a new discovery.
The question is simple: can we find the Lone Men of Kaokoland?
Follow the tracks. Search the wilderness. Find the mysterious ones.
